I’m scrapbooking some old photos of a renovation project I completed many years ago. These Timeless Texture papers from Die Cuts With a View were the perfect match.
Designer Papers
The Timeless Texture stack from Die Cuts With a View is one of my all time favourite paper stacks. It’s got a full rainbow of colours including fun bright shades, muted tones and lots of neutrals too.
Each colour comes in about 4 – 5 different patterns and each pattern is a slightly different shade. All the patterns are quite subtle so they won’t clash with just about scrapbook page theme. They’re also quite small in scale so this paper stack is great for card making as well as scrapbooking.
It’s so handy to have just the right colour for just about any project.
Distress Inks
I love using distress inks in most of my papercraft project. They add a little lift to the papers, a little bit of texture and dimension. On this scrapbook layout I’ve used Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Embellishments
This grey / brown woven ribbon was the packaging for some face cloths I bought over the weekend. I always save little scraps of ribbon from packaging. It’s a totally free way of expanding my ribbon stash.
This ribbon was just sat on top of my embellishment storage box waiting for me to get round to putting it away. When I grabbed my box of embellishments it fell off the top onto my scrapbook layout and it co-ordinated perfectly. It’s not often I feel that being untidy is advantageous, but this was one of those rare times!
To soften the edges I layered the textured ribbon on top of a length of brown organza ribbon.

I was thinking of putting lots of tags and other embellishments in the bottom corner but when it came down to it, they just looked too much. Instead I decided to use these distressed effect tag brads that I’ve had for years and years and years . . . I think they were from Dovecraft.
I’m loving the industrial vibe they bring to the scrapbook page, just right for these renovation photos.
I don’t normally use quotes on my scrapbook layouts. I don’t actually have many quotes stamps in my stash. This one was just too funny not to add to my rubber stamp collection.
I was at a bit of a loss as to what journaling to add to this scrapbook layout. There isn’t really much to say, I renovated, it was messy and expensive and time consuming. It’s quite a painful memory because circumstances forced me to sell my beloved house just months after the renovations were completed. I never really got to enjoy the results of all my hard work. I always struggle to journal about bad memories.

This quote jumped out at me instead. It reads “Only Those Who Do Nothing Make No Mistakes”. The stamp set is by Lindsey Mason Designs.
Scrapbook Page Title
The title for this scrapbook page was a bit of an afterthought. I couldn’t think what to do for a title at first. But after I’d finished the rest of the layout the page looked very bare over to the right. I used some scraps of DCWM Timeless Texture paper and die cut this bold “Renovate” title using my XCut Mid West Alphabet die.

I think it finishes off the page nicely. I like the bold, simple title to complement the clean and simple style of this scrapbook layout.
I used a glue pen to stick each letter in place – sooo tedious!!! But totally worth it.

Yes looking back on achievements is important. You don’t realise what you can achieve till you set your mind to it. Great idea.
